Already boasting an extensive body of work behind him, Hint notably went on to release his debut album 'Portakabin Fever' on Ninja Tune in 2003. Straight No Chaser remarked that "this will warm your lazy heart" and The Big Chill deemed it "some of the most beguiling pastoral electronica that you are ever likely to hear". All of which is clearly complimentary and all of which goes to show that even though the chilled massive embraced his music, there's a lot more going on besides.

As a DJ, Hint covers an expansive range of styles, flipping scripts from hip hop to broken beats, funk to house, and jazz to dubstep. Just check his numerous remixes for Tru Thoughts and Wah Wah 45's to sample his heavy dancefloor pressure. He may have dropped a cheeky laid back album, but on the decks he certainly knows how to rock a dancefloor! One of the man Hint's most poignant achievements to date was being invited to record a Peel Session at Maida Vale.

This was broadcast in May 2002 and is a stand alone testament to this artist's talent.Hint has been a good friend of Tru Thoughts for many a year now. He was first found on Tru Thoughts (whilst signed to Ninja Tune) on the Shapes One Compilation with a track called "Back To The Wig" which was a nod to the club night that Tru Thoughts label boss Robert Luis ran in Brighton on a Wednesday night at The Jazz Place between 1994-1999 (and as a young music fan was where J Hint first got into the style he now creates and DJs). With a change of style and direction, the next Hint release was on the Tru Thoughts Shapes Red Compilation, with his "Tremmuh" track (which appears on his new EP). "The Tremmuh" was voted as best new track on J Da Flex's Underground Knowledge show on 1xtra. This track caused a big stir at TT Towers so we decided to release it in its own right!

This change of style shows the development of Hint and shows a vastly different side of his music to his album Portakabin Fever. This dynamic dancefloor orientated EP may surprise, but excite, many a new and old Hint fan! Hints new EP "The Tremmuh" is released on Monday 12 December 2005.

samurai.fm would like to congratulate our mates over at Tru Thoughts on their Worldwide 'Best Label' award. Big cheers for the TT crew!
